Trainer

We are seeking an experienced Trainer to join our team. The purpose of the position is to deliver mental health, wellbeing, and suicide prevention training to customers consistent with the OzHelp service model that incorporates evidence-based best practice in preventive mental health and suicide prevention training.

OzHelp does this by delivering online screening and educational tools, backed up by real-time supports via phone or face-to-face workplace health and wellbeing awareness, screening and support accessible to workers nation-wide regardless of remoteness.

Deliver mental health, wellbeing, and suicide prevention training to customers consistent with the OzHelp service model that incorporates evidence based best practice in preventive mental health and suicide prevention training.

Training

  • effectively plan and deliver OzHelp’s accredited and non-accredited training programs online or in-person e.g. Empowerment Program, Gatekeeper Training (e.g. QPR), Wellbeing @ Work, etc
  • engaging participants in a way that acknowledges and caters to a varying range of knowledge and abilities
  • ensure required qualifications and accreditations are maintained
  • review evaluation results after each session and contribute to continuous improvement activities making recommendations to the Service Delivery Director where appropriate
  • contribute positively to the review of existing programs and the development and implementation of new evidence-based training programs
  • participate positively in train the trainer sessions for new programs
  • participate positively in training session reflection and self-evaluation
  • travel as required to deliver training in customer locations

Working in a multi-disciplinary team

  • participate in meetings including service delivery team and staff meetings
  • contribute to a workplace culture consistent with OzHelp values
  • demonstrate a commitment to best practice

Governance and administration

  • accurately maintain client information in the Salesforce database
  • demonstrate organisational values and adhere to OzHelp’s policies and procedures
  • demonstrate an understanding of workplace health and safety principles
  • participate in continuing quality improvement activities including maintaining accreditation against the National Standards for Mental Health Services (NSMHS)

Participants, Customers, Service Delivery Team, Business Development Team, External service providers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV qualifications in education or training – e.g. Cert. IV in Training and Assessment
  • Minimum Certificate IV qualification preferred in an area closely related to the content that will be delivered – e.g. Certificate IV Mental Health
  • Australian citizenship or ability to work in Australia
  • Working with Vulnerable People card
  • Current relevant state/territory driver licence

Industry experience & knowledge

  • At least two years’ experience in successfully delivering training programs/workshops in a relevant discipline (community development, community welfare, social work, or mental health)
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective trainer as evidenced by capacity to acquire and impart knowledge, skills, and expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to be both self-motivated and work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting the achievement of team goals and objectives

Desirable

  • Knowledge of working with workers in high risk, typically male dominated industries such as construction, transport/logistics and farming

Technology Skills

  • Competence in use of Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Strong skills across Microsoft Office Suite
